A code point is any single assigned number in Unicode’s space, written like U+0041 for a capital A. Most of the time, one code point equals one character you see on screen. Emoji break that rule constantly. A single flag emoji is actually two code points combined. A family emoji can be four or five people joined into one visible symbol with invisible connector characters holding them together.
